METRO DE PANAMÁ Commissioning, Testing, and Start-up of Motor Control Centers and Switchgear for Line 2.

2023. Panama

The project consisted of executing a rigorous electrical testing protocol for the systems defined in Single-Line Diagram MP2-990-E30-PL-42141 Rev. F1. The intervention guaranteed the operational integrity of fundamental distribution and control components, ensuring that each piece of equipment complies with safety and performance standards before full load operation.

Cabling Systems: Execution of continuity, insulation, and dielectric strength tests (VLF/Hipot), along with terminal connections applied under standardized torque specifications.

Medium Voltage Infrastructure: Evaluation of the TMT1 Switchboard and busbar sets, including dielectric strength tests and metallic mass resistance measurements.

Transformation and Power: Certification of Auxiliary Transformers and Power Switchboards TP-1, TP-2, and TP-3.

Backup and Protection Systems: Operational tests on the Battery Charger (CCBAT), Rail-to-Ground Voltage Detector (DTRS), and the Emergency Cut-off Panel (TCU).

Control and Protections: Verification of the Control and Signaling Panel (TCS 10) and validation of protections via secondary injection testing.

The comprehensive service covered everything from logistical planning to the mobilization of specialized technical personnel for preliminary verifications and field trials. It included the determination of transformation ratios in current transformers (CTs) and functional tests to validate system response to faults, ensuring a safe transition to the operational phase. This project validated the correct installation of assets and mitigated operational risks through the early detection of insulation anomalies and protection logic errors, consolidating the stability of the client’s electrical system.
