PEQUIVEN Project: Supply and Installation of 4.16 kV Medium-Voltage Switchgear (Schneider Electric)

2021. Venezuela

The intervention consisted of a comprehensive upgrade of the electrical infrastructure at the Chlorine-Soda Plant of the Ana María Campos Petrochemical Complex, located in Los Puertos de Altagracia, Zulia State. The project focused on the technological transition of existing equipment to high-efficiency solutions from Schneider Electric’s PIX High series.

Technical Decommissioning: Scheduled removal and disconnection of ten (10) vacuum breaker cells from SWGR 401A.

Technology Upgrade: Supply and installation of eight (8) 4.16 kV cells equipped with SF6 circuit breakers.

Infrastructure Adaptation: Site adjustment, including the supply and installation of transition cells to ensure system compatibility.

Control Optimization: Configuration and adaptation of critical components, such as protection relays, control wiring, and current transformers (CTs).

Quality Assurance: Execution of testing protocols, commissioning, and specialized technical support during the start-up phase.

Proyelec managed the entire project chain, from the supply and transport of equipment to installation logistics and operational start-up. The execution included the necessary adaptation engineering to integrate the new technology into pre-existing infrastructure, ensuring the plant’s operational continuity. The transition to PIX High technology not only modernized the Chlorine-Soda Plant’s distribution network but also increased system reliability and the operational safety of the petrochemical complex through precise and efficient technical integration.
